I always like talking to the folks from the Family Violence Project. For one thing, I learn a lot. But there is so much positive that comes from them. The positive steps in the right direction and the resources the FVP provides the Central Maine area. Here is what I learned about domestic violence and the holidays.

The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness month which has been going on since 1981 with the National Coalition against Domestic Violence.  It originally started as a single day in October but has since expanded to the entire month. The day in 1981 quickly turned into a week and then in 1987 it became an entire month with the idea being, working to end violence against women and children.
