Another famous Mainer and his place in history: Conrad Heyer crossed the Delaware with George Washington, and would be 267 years old today.

Christmas as we know it today hasn’t always been Christmas as we know it. It was only about 150 years ago Christmas in the United States started to take shape and become the holiday we have today.

Maine’s annual Open Lighthouse Day is Saturday, September 13. On that day, 22 lighthouses around the state will offer free admission to visitors. The annual draw is 15,000 to 18,000 people as they get the opportunity to climb to the top of the lighthouses.

We’re going to take a look at some interesting facts, things that make you go hmmm. I like this stuff because it makes you scratch your head at first but after you think about it for a minute you can believe it.
