The winter storm we are experiencing in Maine and the northeast is called ‘Goliath’. The name comes from the fact that 11 states are under winter storm warnings from north Texas all the way through the Northeast.

It has brought severe weather from Georgia to Michigan, Missouri and New Mexico declared a state of emergency. ‘Goliath’ has already brought snow, heavy rainfall, flooding and tornados to the southwest, killing dozens of people and cancelling hundreds of flights.

Here in Maine we are expecting 4 to 8 inches of snow with some areas receiving as much as a foot or more. Wind chills will remain around ‘0’ degrees and wind gusts will reach 25 mph.

We knew winter was coming but we did get spoiled a little with ‘above’ average temperatures through the Christmas holiday.
