A lot of people have been saying they think the summer of 2014 has been one of the rainiest summers in Maine. In Aroostook County it has been the second rainiest summer on record. Since June 1st the rain has been above average.

There has been about 18.9 inches of rain which has been above average for the county. The next few weeks of weather are important for the Maine potato crop. Too much rain will make the harvest difficult but two to three weeks of dry weather would a great way to finish off strong.

Either way the Maine potato yield is expected to be a good yield and an average crop this season despite the heavy rains and seed losses in June.
