A Maine Woman Recently Won Life Changing Money In The Lottery

Even though we have a lot of lottery players here in the State of Maine, it is not a really big surprise that we have rarely had jackpot winners.  Even though a significant part of our adult population buys the occasional lottery ticket, we don't have a really big population like some other states.

Here in Maine, we have a population just under 1.4 million.  New York State, on the other hand, has a population of nearly 20 million.  Florida has a population of 21.8 million and California has a population of just under 40 million people!  Yeah, there is a BIG difference!

So far, in the nearly two decades since Powerball came to Maine, the state has yet to get a jackpot winner.  We did, however, have a MASSIVE Mega Millions winner in early 2023.  The jackpot was nearly $1.5 BILLION!  At the time of this writing, it was the biggest Mega Millions jackpot ever.

Even though we have never had a lot of jackpot winners, Maine still has its fair share of big winners.

For example, a woman named Susan just grab what we would describe as being life changing money from a Gimme 5 ticket that was sold in Saco.

According to the Maine Lottery Facebook page, she picked up a cool $100,000!

Is it like winning several hundred million dollars?  No, of course not.  But, we would still consider it life changing money.  Think of all the things you could do with that cash?  Pay down your bills, buy a new vehicle, hop in the car and spend a week at Old Orchard Beach, pay off the mortgage on your house, or book the vacation in California Wine Country!

There have been several other large winners in Maine in the last few weeks.  A Waterville area man just picked up $50,000 and a $50,000 Powerball winner was sold in Aroostook County a few weeks ago.

The jackpot for the July 17th, 2023 Powerball drawing is MASSIVE.  It is about $900,000,000...  Yep, just under a BILLION DOLLARS!
