Actors that we see in the movies and on T.V. aren’t always the ones that were the first choice of the studios. Some well-known actors turned down roles that would have made them millions but at the time didn’t think the role was good enough or not right for them.

Molly Ringwald was originally offered the role as Vivian in Pretty Woman but she turned it down and Julia Roberts took the role which was a career maker for her. Ringwald also turned down the lead role in Ghost, and that went to Demi Moore.

Hard to think, after the great job Tom Hanks did as Forest Gump, he wasn't the first choice, the role was first offered to John Travolta. He wasn’t the only one who turned down the role before it was offered to Hanks. Bill Murray and Chevy Chase were asked too but declined.

Paul Shaffer, the band leader on Late Night with David Letterman was offered the role as George Costanza on Seinfeld. He said he was too busy to take the role and the rest is history.

Michelle Pfeiffer turned down the role of Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs, a role Jodie Foster desperately wanted. Pfeiffer thought there was too much gore and the subject matter to dark, so the role went to Foster.
