An Open Letter to Maine Residents Who Walk & Bike to Work
It seems like I am seeing this a lot more these days.
Or, maybe I am just noticing it more than I have.
We are seeing more Mainers walking to work.
How do I know these people are walking to work? They are dressed in their company's uniform and often carrying a backpack.
I admire you and your perseverance.
In recent years, we have seen many people choose to bow out of the workforce. They have decided to fund their lifestyle in some other way. That's not you, though. You have decided that it is important to be a part of the workforce.

You pull yourself out of bed earlier than many other people need to, get dressed, and, because you lack a car, you make the hike to work.
The same goes for those who ride bicycles to work.
If you happen to see me driving down the street when you are on your way to or from work, give me a wave and I'll gladly give you a lift.
Before you jump on me about it, because I know someone will, I do understand that there are people who are legitimately incapable of working. I would never disrespect someone who is legitimately not capable of having a job due to a disability.
