According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, a man from Trenton is in trouble following a weekend domestic violence incident.

Maine State Police responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a home on Oak Point Road in Trenton around 9:37 Saturday morning.  While troopers were on their way to the scene, they learned the male suspect had already left the residence and could possibly have dangerous explosive materials in his possession.

Authorities later located the suspect’s vehicle at a home on Bar Harbor Road in Trenton and quickly secured the area while the investigation unfolded.

Police said the woman involved in the incident was not injured. Because of concerns about possible explosives, investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and members of the Maine State Police Bomb Squad were called to assist. During their search, officials reportedly found several improvised explosive devices, along with materials believed to be used to make them.  The devices were safely neutralized by the bomb squad.

Police arrested 43-year-old Anthony Nickerson of Trenton without incident.

He is facing several charges, including Domestic Violence Assault, Possession of Firearms by a Prohibited Person, Arson, and Criminal Use of Explosives.

*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law

Officials say the investigation is still ongoing.
