Peopling living in, or traveling through, the Town of Winslow, will soon have a new option for their morning coffee or afternoon pick me up.

According to the KJ, regional coffee chain Aroma Joes will be opening a new location on Bay Street in Winslow.

The new location, which will open later this summer (probably July or August), will be in the old Dunkin' location at 9 Bay Street.  That building has been empty since 2016, when that Dunkin' location moved down the street to a new building.

According to the article, the regional chain's first shop was opened in 2000 in Rochester, New Hampshire.  Based it Portland, it is operated by four Maine cousins - brothers Marty and Tim McKenna and Mike and Brian Sillon.  Since starting to allow franchising in 2012, the chain has really exploded.  Currently, there are over 70 locations spread across the New England states.

One of the key concepts of the chain is the fact that all of the drive-thru transactions take place face-to-face.  They don't have intercom systems.  You roll up to one window, order your food and drinks, and (in the larger locations), roll on to the next window to get what you ordered.  It is a unique concept and probably prevents some of the miss-communications that happen with intercom systems.

Once open, the Winslow shop plans to employee 25 to 30 people.  Ten of those employees will be full tine.  Currently, the plan is for the shop to be open from 4:30 AM to 10 PM.

Other Aroma Joe's locations in Central Maine include Augusta and Waterville.
