Arrest Made In Killing Of Maine Teen

Earlier this week, we told you about the killing of a 14 year old girl from Mount Vernon.  Brooke McLaughlin had been found deceased, by her mother, in the family home on Monday evening.

Now, it appears an arrest has been made in the case.

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, earlier today (July 23rd, 2022), the Maine State Police arrested a male juvenile from Maine in connection with the killing of McLaughlin.

He has been taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland,

The press release said, in part:

On Saturday morning, July 23, 2022, State Police Detectives arrested a male juvenile from Maine and charged him with murder. The juvenile was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland. McLaughlin and the juvenile did know each other. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding McLaughlin’s death. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at 207.624.7076.  At this time we will not be releasing the juvenile's name or where in Maine he is from. We will also not be releasing any investigative details such as what led police to the juvenile. Additional information will be released through court documents. 

At this time, no motive for the killing has been released.
