Traffic Alert: Expect Delays at Augusta Traffic Circle on Monday
Normally, we do not expect many major traffic issues in Central Maine. Not compared to places like Boston or New York, anyway.
However, you should not that there could be delays on your way to work or school on Monday morning.
According to a post on the City of Augusta Facebook page, there will be some road work being done on the Memorial Traffic Circle in Augusta on Monday (September 15th) morning.
The Memorial Circle is the one that intersects with Western Avenue and State Street.
The post explains, in part:
Set up will start at 4:00 a.m. on Monday and the access roads to the circle will be reduced to one lane and the inside lane of the circle will be closed to traffic so prep work can me completed before the 7:00 a.m. morning commuter traffic. The circle will be opened up and functional from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The patching will begin at 9 a.m. and at this time the access roads to the circle will again be reduced to one lane and the inside lane will be closed to traffic to complete this work.
The hope is for the work to be completed by Monday afternoon.
Clearly, if you normally travel through this rotary on your way to work or school, you are going to want to allow an extra few minutes to get through the intersection.
