Augusta Nursing Home Celebrates Being Virus Free

According to WCSH 6, the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation celebrated a great milestone today (June 13th).  It's been 45 days since the facility's last positive COVID-19 test.

Earlier this spring, the facility had been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.  Forty-seven residents and 21 staffers had contracted the virus.  That outbreak lead to the passing of eight of the home's residents.

Today was a different story.  Nearly fifty vehicles showed up for a celebratory parade.

Moving forward, life for the residents will slowly begin to return to normal.  Beginning next week, they plan to allow family to have visits outside, while maintaining social distancing.
