25,000 hours…

What about 25,000 hours?

That’s about how much time I have spent in our studios & offices at 56 Western Avenue in Augusta since I started working at B98.5 and 92 Moose in June of 2016.

During the last 8 ½ years I have hosted hundreds of radio shows, written thousands of website articles, and planned out some of the biggest radio contests that Central Maine has ever seen.

While it is my workplace, not every second in the building is spent doing actual work.

Many of the hours I have spent in our building have been devoted to helping my kids with their homework, streaming movies in the conference room, attending work gatherings, stashing and wrapping Christmas gifts, and spinning DJ sets in the lobby.  With regard to that last point, I am kind of surprised that the neighbors never complained about the noise.  Maybe they really liked what I was spinning?

I have spent so much time at 56 Western Avenue that Google Maps believes it is my home and that my home is actually my workplace.

That’s all about to change, though.

After being in the same spot (behind the laundromat) for three decades, the staff of B98.5 will soon leave our 56 Western Avenue studios for the last time.

B98.5, 92 Moose, and Townsquare Media Move to Downtown Augusta, Maine

A plan that has been in the works for months will soon come to fruition: the B98.5 and 92 Moose studios and offices will be relocated to a new space on Water Street in Augusta.

Our new space will be in the former Sonny’s Rock Shop on Water Street.  We’ll be sandwiched between The Whiskey Kitchen and Wrapped Up Coffee House.  We’ll be a short walk from State Lunch, Cushnoc, Riverfront BBQ, Merkbaba Sol, Lisa’s Legit Burritos, Downtown Diner, Waterfront Park, the Kennebec River Rail Trail, and everything else downtown Augusta has to offer.

One of the coolest parts of the move is what our new view will be!  Our new, high-tech, studios will look out onto Water Street.

It seems only appropriate that a company named Townsquare Media be in the town square.

Although there is no specific date for the relocation, we know it will occur in the coming months.
