What We Know About the Sale of the Mall in Bangor, Maine
According to an article on the WABI website, some big changes could soon be coming to one of Maine's largest shopping malls.
The article explains that there is a new development in the ongoing effort to bring new life to the Bangor Mall.
According to State Senator Joe Baldacci of Bangor, the property is now officially under contract with a local buyer, with final negotiations currently underway.
The update follows months of behind-the-scenes work by local leaders and community members who’ve been pushing to move the long-discussed redevelopment forward.
Baldacci says revitalizing the mall has been a top priority for him, especially after he introduced and helped pass legislation that allows state support for the project through the Maine Redevelopment Land Bank Authority. The mall itself was last sold in 2019 to Namdar Realty Group, a New York-based investment firm.
He also noted that it’s a positive sign to see local stakeholders taking a leading role in the potential sale, something many in the community have been hoping for.
As things continue to progress, more details about the buyer and what the future holds for the Bangor Mall are expected to be shared.

As a kid growing up in Aroostook County I used to love taking trips to Bangor. We all considered Bangor to be the "big city" and we loved being able to go to the mall because there were so many shops that we did not have in Houlton.
