Over the last decade, we have seen the popularity of food trucks skyrocket.

It was not that long ago that all you could get from a food truck was a burger, chicken, tenders, a hot dog, and fries.  Now, you can get everything from wood-fired pizza to tacos, to lo mein.

Another trend we are seeing a lot of is aspiring restaurateurs starting with a food truck.  If what they are creating in the food truck is successful, they will use the money earned from the food truck in order to open a restaurant.  This is how both Luchador Tacos and Two Maine Guys started out.

It looks like that trend is happening again.

According to a post on the Bao & Beyond Facebook page, they will be opening a restaurant in Augusta.

The restaurant will be located in a building at 1 Hichborn Street in Augusta.  If we are not mistaken, this is the old Wrapped Up location.

The post says, in part:

The hope it to open the doors in Mid-June. Keep an eye out for updates as we continue our journey. This wouldn’t be possible without all of our followers support. We are extremely grateful.

For several years, Bao & Beyond has been traveling around Maine serving of the best bao buns you'll ever have.

What are bao buns?  They are soft, fluffy steamed buns that are folded over and filled with a sweet or savory filling.  You'll find bao buns that are filled with everything from chicken to beef to chocolate.
