Legendary Maine Restaurant Named Best on “Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives”
Since 2007, Food Network star, and celebrity chef, Guy Fieri has been traveling the country visiting some of the best restaurants in the United States.
On his iconic show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" Guy does not just visit high-end, gourmet eateries. Nope, he visits everything from diners, to BBQ places, to bistros.
In most cases, he shadows the head cook (executive chef?) as they make one of the restaurant's signature dishes. For example, during a recent visit to the Moat Mountain Smokehouse in New Hampshire, owner Scott showed Guy how they make their signature BBQ meatloaf.
The Best Restaurant in Maine
The team at Food Network recently put out their list of the best eateries from each state that were featured on "Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives".
The pick for Maine was Becky's Diner on Commercial Street in Portland.
The article explains that one of the things that makes it such a great place is the fact that the owner started out as a home cook. And, that she used her family recipes to create the recipes at the restaurant.
The article says, in part:
Founded by home cook Becky Rand in the ’90s, Becky’s Diner features seafood at its best. And it’s a family affair, too, with her children and other family members now running much of the restaurant, from bringing in fresh lobster to cooking up the infamous Seafood Stuffing featured on the show in Season 10.
Clearly, it is working because the place has been around for over three decades.
