Travelers Have Voted This Tiny Maine Town’s Sunsets #1 in the World
Seasoned travelers will tell you that, in order to really experience an area, you need to pay close attention to the little things.
Yes, exciting attractions are fun, but the subtle things are far more important. The sights, the sounds, the smells, and the people.
Two of the most important little things are sunrises and sunsets.
While they are similar no matter where in the world you are, they are also incredibly unique.
It has just been announced that the sunsets in one coastal Maine town have been named the No. 1 sunsets in the world.
Where Are the Best Sunsets in the World?
After looking at the most posted about sunsets on the social media platform TikTok, car rental business SIXT put out their list of the top 50 sunsets in the world.
The sunsets in the seaside town of Bar Harbor, Maine, topped the list.
Bar Harbor is a resort town located on Mount Desert Island. While it is adjacent to Acadia National Park, the town itself has a lot to offer. The streets of the town are lined with unique shops, great restaurants, and amazing bars. It is an equally fun spot whether you're traveling with a group of adult friends or with the entire family.
Videos of the town's sunsets have been viewed a whopping 2.7 million times, but the main reason it was selected as the best sunset in the world is a lot more scientific.
The town was selected because it rated a '3' on the Bortle Scale, which measures the amount of light pollution in an area. While a '3' on the scale is not pitch black, it is dark enough so there is little light pollution to interfere with viewing the sunset.
Other locations on the list include Bora Bora (2nd place), Wailuku, Hawaii (3rd place), and Glenwood Springs, Colorado (4th place).
