Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks Perform ‘Daddy Lessons’ at 2016 CMAs
Beyonce fans who've felt that Lemonade track "Daddy Lessons" has gone underrated as a legit country music banger, the Country Music Awards heard you loud and clear: Queen Bey joined The Dixie Chicks at the 2016 CMAs with a team-up on the track.

The country act had already established themselves as fans of the Beyonce song, having performed it as a rollicking country tune in concert (watch a video of the Dixie Chicks' "Daddy Lessons" cover below). CMT first reported that Beyonce would surprise the CMAs with a performance, with the show confirming it as the broadcast began.
And despite a rather unfortunate post titled "What's So Country About Beyonce?" on CMT's site decrying the song as a genre imposter in late April, count Blake Shelton among the country superstars who've tried to dismiss "Daddy Lessons" as not country enough.
"People that criticize can kiss my ass. That’s what I say,” the Voice judge told Entertainment Tonight on May 2. “I can’t believe people that don’t contribute to music that criticize music, it just blows my mind and Beyonce — tell them to kiss that ass, is what I would do."
The 2016 Country Music Awards air tonight (November 2) at 8/7c — and you can live stream the CMAs red carpet on our sister site Taste of Country beginning at 5:30PM eastern.
