According to the KJ, an early Sunday morning water main break at a strip mall off The Concourse in Waterville caused significant flooding.

The break caused eight feet of water to flood the basement of the Goodwill Store.  Additionally, it flooded the back parking lot, submerging propane tanks and electrical boxes.

Workers from the Kennebec Water District, Waterville Sewerage District, CMP, law enforcement, and AmeriGas responded to the incident.  In addition to the Goodwill Store, the mall also contains a Dollar General, a Save-A-Lot, and several other businesses.

While the cause of the 12 inch main break is not known, it is speculated that it was caused by frost heaves.
