Brush Fire Threatens Hotel in Popular New Hampshire Tourist Town

According to Nick News, a popular Facebook community group focused on the Mount Washington Valley and White Mountains of New Hampshire, a series of brush fires are threatening the tourist town of North Conway, New Hampshire.

Based on the ever-growing list of posts and photos being posted to the page, it appears the fire was first reported about 3 PM.  While there were several fires burning across the area, it appears that most of the fires started near the railroad tracks that run between North Conway Village and Conway Village.

According to Nike News posts, fires were reported in Hart's Location, behind the Water Precinct, on Sawmill Lane, and near the new location of the North Conway Flatbread Company location.

Probably the most dramatic part of the incident occurred when a brush fire threatened the popular Holiday Inn on White Mountain Highway.

Guests of the hotel were evacuated to the nearby McDonald's Restaurant while firefighters battled the fire.  While it appears that the fire outside the building was quickly put out, there are reports that additional firefighters have been requested in order to deal with the interior of the hotel.

Given the extremely dry conditions that have been reported in many areas across our region, it should not be a surprise that a series of brush fires ignited today.

This situation is another reminder that we have the best first responders here in New England!  Our thoughts are with all those currently battling the blazes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
