Captain Keith Davis Announces Camp Out Hunger 2021 TOTALS!!
Last week was our 3rd Annual Camp Out Hunger Food Drive. Buzz and myself, joined by the 92 Moose morning show, spent the better part of a week camped out in the Sam's Club Augusta parking lot collecting money and non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army.
As always, like each year before this, it was a surreal experience. So many donations and so many people. Additionally, there were so many incredible stories from people we had never met before.
Not only did an unfathomable amount of Central Mainers come to donate, so so so many had stories a lot similar to my own and how they used to be food insecure and were once in need of the services offered by the Salvation Army. The best part is while they were telling us their stories, they were making donations because they're now in a place to give back. This event constantly comes full circle.
According to Captain Keith Davis from the Salvation Army, we as a community here in Central Maine came together and raised 41,000 pounds of food, which comes with a retail value of $112,000.00! That's $112,000.00, not including our total cash donations of $10,000!
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. We couldn't have done it without YOU!
