Carrie Underwood Tears Into New ‘Sunday Night Football’ Theme Song, ‘Game On’
Carrie Underwood is ready to heat up football season with a brand-new opening theme song for NBC's Sunday Night Football.
The kickoff is Sept. 9, and Underwood will be there (well, a pre-recorded version of her) singing a song called "Game On" when the Chicago Bears play the Green Bay Packers. She won't be the only star of the new opening reel — Super Bowl LII champions Carson Wentz, Lane Johnson, Zach Ertz, and Fletcher Cox from the Philadelphia Eagles; as well as standouts from the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks, will also appear.
Underwood was previously the voice of "Oh, Sunday Night," which was inspired by Miranda Lambert’s hit "Somethin’ Bad," which she was featured on when they were labelmates. Before that, Underwood belted out the rousing song “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” on Sundays.
This year marks the sixth season that Underwood will be singing the SNF theme, but that’s not all the Oklahoma native has up her sparkly sleeves going into the colder months. Underwood will release her brand new album Cry Pretty on Sept. 14.
"At this point in my career, I feel stronger and more creative than ever,” Underwood said in a press release about the empowering new album earlier this year. ”I think you can hear that in this new album. It’s emotional, it’s soulful, it’s real, and we also have some fun on there too. I hope everyone loves it as much as I have loved making it."
She's also plotting a tour. The superstar warmed up with a headlining appearance at WE Fest 2018 on Thursday (Aug. 2).
