Even though a certain number of people still deny it is the case, most of us realize that there really is gang activity here in the State of Maine.  And, we're not just talking about your cousin Sean and his buddies breaking into a hunting camp looking for things to steal.  We're talking about activity involving serious, big city, gangs.

This story is a good reminder of that!

According to a WMTW article, a Central Maine woman is facing numerous charges after police allege she purchased dozens of firearms for a Los Angeles street gang.

Jennifer Scruggs, 35, of Turner, was arrested on Monday and charged with 10 counts of making false written statements to three different licensed firearms dealers.  The purchases, ten in all, were made between March 20th, 2022 and June 17th, 2022.  In total, she reportedly bought 55 guns.

How did they know she was planning to send the firearms to Los Angeles?  According to a federal complaint, two of the weapons were recovered by Los Angeles police in August 2022 and February 2023. When checked, the serial numbers for each weapon confirmed that they had been purchased by Jennifer Scruggs.

She had previously been questioned about the number of firearms purchases she made in a short amount of time.  At that time, she told members of the ATF and local police that she was concerned about the banks and felt that firearms were a much more stable investment.  She also reportedly told some people that she was battling cancer and wanted to leave her son some guns, should she pass away.

We'll bring you more information on this story as it becomes available.
