City of Augusta Kicking Off Holidays With Spectacular Fireworks
One of the great things about living in Central Maine is the number of fairs, festivals, and celebrations there are. It seems like every other week, there is some kind of family-friendly event.
The holidays are no exception to this rule!
And, it should not be a big surprise that the City of Augusta staff really brings their 'A' game when it comes to holiday celebrations.
The City of Augusta Holiday Kickoff
This Saturday, November 25, will serve as the official kickoff to the holiday season in Augusta. This year's event has a Charlie Brown theme, and will feature an entire afternoon of fun that gets capped off with the tree lighting and fireworks.
The fun will start at noon with activities at Old Fort Western. There'll also be a Charlie Brown Christmas story walk and a scavenger hunt on Water Street.
At 12:30, Santa will start his stroll through Augusta. Jolly Ol' Saint Nick's entourage will travel all over town. Get a schedule of where he'll be HERE.
Starting at 2:30, there'll be horse drawn wagon rides and live entertainment on Water Street. Keep in mind that Water Street will be closed to traffic for much of the afternoon. You are going to want to find an alternative way through the area.
From about 3:15 to 5 PM, you'll be able to catch Santa at his workshop.
The City of Augusta Tree Lighting & Fireworks
At just about 5:05 PM, Santa and Augusta Mayor Mark O'Brien will make their way to Augusta's Haymarket Square to light the city's Christmas Tree.
Just after the tree lighting, everyone will be invited to make their way to Front Street so they can watch an epic fireworks display.
Of course, all of these events are free and open to the public. Get more details from the Augusta Parks & Rec Facebook page.
