Country News: Martina McBride’s Charity Helps Homeless Moms to Be

Martina McBride’s charity ‘Team Music is Love’ celebrated young mothers who live at Covenant House, a homeless youth shelter in New York City. McBride partnered with diaper companies to refill the shelter with essentials. Each mother to be received a gift bag with educational toys, books and bath supplies. McBride also invited all staff and mothers to show at Paly Station Theatre that night. According to Taste of Country, 18,000 diapers were donated.

George Strait fans attending the country legend's annual George Strait Team Roping Classic in San Antonio, Texas, got a real treat during the charity auction when King George's grandson got in on the action. According to Taste of Country this year George’s grandson Harvey got in on the bidding. With a cue from his grandfather, Harvey would raise his hand to the auctioneer. At the end of the bidding Harvey got a high five from Granddaddy George.

Dolly Parton is set to be honored by her hometown, again! For the thirteenth year, Sevierville, Tennessee will honor Dolly’s incredible career during the Mountain Soul Vocal Competition. A variety of contestants will sing one of Parton’s songs in their own style from bluegrass to rap. Taste of Country says it is allegedly the only vocal competition in the world dedicated solely to Parton and her gift as a songwriter.
