Country News: Sam Hunt to Receive a Special CMT Award

Sam Hunt will be awarded the first CMT Artist of the Year award for Song of the Year for his smash hit 'Body Like a Backroad.' In addition to being the longest running No. 1 by a solo artist in the history of Billboard’s Hot Country, the song was 2017’s most downloaded country song and also the country song with the most streams for the year. According to theboot.com Hunt will receive the award during a special ceremony on October 8. The CMT Artist of the Year special will also recognize Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Stapleton and Luke Bryan.

Zac Brown Band has been scheduled to play Houston with a concert and the band decided to make the show into a benefit concert for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. On theboot.com the band is also offering free lawn seats to first responders and are encouraging concert goers to bring non-perishable food and household items to the show.

Little Big Town received a star on the Music City Walk of Fame on Thursday. According to theboot.com Keith Urban was on hand to help induct the quartet. The ceremony was moved to later in the day so the band could perform at the memorial for Troy Gentry.
