Three People Arrested for Allegedly Stealing an ATM From a Maine Ice Cream Shop
This scenario seems like something we would see play out in a bad 1990s comedy.
Three people have been arrested for allegedly stealing an automatic teller machine from a rural, Maine ice cream shop.
According to an article in the KJ, police were alerted to the crime, which took place at Tubby’s Own Ice Cream early Thursday morning, by the guests of an Airbnb rental located upstairs from the shop.
The article explains that the thieves jimmied open the door of the ice cream shop, which is located on Main Street in Wayne, and removed the ATM. Police say the machine did contain a significant amount of cash, but did not disclose the total amount.
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, police were able to track the alleged thieves to a home in Livermore Falls, about 11 miles from Wayne.
The article explains that those arrested were 47-year-old Joshua Souther, and 44-year-old, and Jason Reckards, both of Livermore Falls. They were arrested on charges of theft. Brittany Boivin, 37, of Jay, was arrested on charges of obstructing government administration and violating conditions of release.
There is no word on when the three will make their first court appearances.
*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law
