
Maine State Police Investigating Death of Man Found Along Roadside
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central is looking into the death of a Thomaston man who had previously been reported missing.
Darryl Sanborn, 64, was last seen in Waldoboro on April 5, 2026. Two days later, the Waldoboro Police Department asked state police to assist in the investigation into his disappearance.
On April 17, a passerby found the body of an adult man along a dirt road off Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro.
The remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where officials confirmed the identity as Sanborn following an autopsy.
Authorities say the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined. Investigators also note there is no known threat to the public, and no further details are being released at this time.
