Man Found Dead After Gunshots Reported In Brunswick

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, members of the Brunswick Police Department are investigating after an adult man was found dead at a home early Tuesday morning. The discovery of the body followed the report of gunshots.

Police responded to 5 Valerie Avenue around 12:48 AM after receiving a 911 call reporting gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found the man deceased on the property.

The resident of the home was taken into custody on charges related to the incident and transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting Brunswick police with the investigation.

The deceased man was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy to confirm his identity and determine the cause and manner of death.

Police say there is no known danger to the public.
