For those who don't know, as the name implies, it is a showroom of products created by the Maine DOC inmates.  Offerings include everything from carved ships, to wooden toys, to clocks, and more.

There are definitely some skilled crafts-people in Maine's prison population.

A visit to the Maine State Prison Showroom offers an interesting insight into the prisoners who are serving time. You get to see a side of them that is human and expressed in art. If you get a chance stop by this unique gem on Main Street in Thomaston and perhaps do a little early Christmas shopping. The story alone is worth the trip.
