If you live in the Madison/Fairfield area and heard a series of loud BOOMS on Wednesday night, you are not alone.

A quick look at the Madison Community Matters... Maine Facebook page shows several posts about the loud booms that were heard in the area on Wednesday night.

One commenter joked that they thought it was a cannon going off.  Another commenter said they heard somewhere that a resident of the town occasionally fires off a cannon.  Even that is true, it seems unlikely that the cannon owner would be shooting it off on a random Wednesday night in April.

One of the other commenters said that they saw a flash before the boom.  This is a pretty good indication of a weather event.
