Enjoy the Maine Fall Colors This Year With a Super Scenic Pumpkin Train Ride
It's easy to forget the little things that can be the most fun during the holiday season. Maine is a place where you don't want to let the fall season fly by without taking full advantage of its' beauty.
So how about skipping the car ride and going on a train ride to see the fall foliage this year?
One of the top recommended scenic train rides in Maine is the Downeast Scenic Railroad in Ellsworth, Maine.
According to downeastscenicrail.org, this pretty train ride is the first tourist-passenger train to hit the historic Calais Branch Line in decades. So fun!
Unfortunately, there's no availability on their Downeast Scenic Railroad Tour through the rest of the year. Keep the idea to check them out next year in your pocket.
But don't worry, I've got another place that does train rides that let you take in the fall foliage, and they still have tickets to get on the train.
I'm talking about the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. and Museum in Portland.
It's a historic train you and the family can ride on while seeing all the beautiful fall foliage. And what's more, there are special Pumpkin Train rides where your kids can decorate a free pumpkin and bring it home.
Their website states the seasonal pumpkin train ride occurs the final two weekends in October. That would be October 21, 22, 28, 29.
That means time is running out, so if you want to check out fall foliage in a totally new and fun way, you better get on it. There's nothing quite like fall in Maine. Am I right?
