Your Guide to Can’t-Miss Kids Halloween Events in Maine
Even though, these days, there are more and more adult oriented Halloween events, like terrifying haunted attractions and Halloween parties, we really need to remember that Halloween is about the kids and younger teens.
Over the years, we have seen a major switch in how families celebrate Halloween.
When most of us were kids, we all went trick-or-treating from house to house. The lucky kids lived in a residential area or development. The unlucky kids lived in the country, where there was a quarter-mile (or more) drive between each house.

Fortunately for parents and kids these days, house-to-house trick-or-treating is much less common than it was back in the 80s and 90s. Instead, we are seeing a lot more trunk-or-treats and Halloween events thrown by towns/cities.
We want to help your family find a few great Halloween parties and trunk-or-treats in your area.
2026 Trunk-Or-Treats & Family Halloween Events
As you can see, we tried to find events in all corners of the state. From Millinocket, to Bangor, to Waterville, and even all the way down in Biddeford. Is there a Halloween event or trunk-or-treat missing from our list? Let us know by emailing cooper.fox@townsquaremedia.com
What is a Trunk-Or-Treat?
Basically, it is exactly what it sounds like. People, usually a mix of businesses/organizations and individuals, park their vehicles in a parking lot and hand out candy from the back of their vehicles.
These are super convenient because they offer a condensed Halloween experience for the younger kids. If you have ever had to try to drag your 4 or 5 year old around even a small neighborhood you know how unpleasant it can be.
