The Farmers’ Almanac Calling For Wet & Messy Winter in Maine, New Hampshire, & Massachusetts

First published in 1818, the Farmers' Almanac has been providing Americans with useful information for over two centuries.

Of course, the almanac is not just for farmers.  In addition to weather and planting information, the almanac gives readers a calendar of astronomical dates (like the phases of the moon), recipes, and other tips for your home.

In November of 2025, we got word that Peter Geiger, the man who had published the almanac for decades, planned to close up shop.  However, in early 2026, we got word that the publication had been purchased and would continue to be published.

The Farmers' Almanac Winter Forecast For Maine, New Hampshire, & Massachusetts

The almanac's website now has the extended winter forecast infographic posted.

It appears that, here in New England, we are going to have a winter that is more wet than normal.  While other parts of the country will get a traditional (cold and snowy) winter, the northeast appears to be headed for a winter of coastal storms, snow, sleet, and a wintry mix.

The forecast area includes Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York.
