Fentanyl, Crack Cocaine & Cash Seized in Winslow Drug Bust
According to the Winslow Police Department, they were conducting a routine bail check when they made the discovery.
The police department detailed the arrest in a press release.
According to the police, on Aug. 29, officers conducted a routine bail check of Joseph Romagno, 38, whose address is 17 Monument St. in Winslow. During this bail check officers said they observed items that were consistent with ongoing drug activity. This lead to the issuance of a search warrant for the residence, police said.
With the assistance of the Waterville Police Department and a K9 Team from the Kennebec County Sheriff Office, officers searched the residence. According to police, the search yielded 134.3 grams of fentanyl, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, and just over $3,000 in cash in the apartment. Also found in the apartment was Kendu Watts of New York City and Amanda Martinez, also from New York City.
Police said all three were arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of Scheduled drugs. They were unable to make bail and transported to the Kennebec County Jail, police said.
Romano was charged with Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs, Violating Conditions of Release, Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs and Use of Drug Paraphernalia, according to police. He is being held on $12,500 cash bail and is due in Kennebec Superior Court on Oct. 29.
Police said Watts, 21, of Park Ave., New York City, was charged with Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs and is being held on $15,000 cash bail. He is also due in Kennebec Superior Court on Oct. 29, police said.
According to police, Martinez, 20, of Amsterdam Ave., New York City, was charged with Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs and is being held on $10,000 cash bail with a court date of Oct. 29 in Kennebec Superior Court.
