According to the KJ, fire crews from around the region responded to a fire at a Maine Turnpike Authority garage in Litchfield on Thursday night.

A man who lives across the highway from the facility, which contained six structures, saw the flames and reported the blaze at around 5 PM.

When firefighters arrived, they found the garage fully engulfed in flames.  The fire caused traffic backups.  Reportedly, traffic on Route 197, also known as  Richmond Road, was routed around the area by a temporary detour to Small Road, Plains Road and Hallowell Road.

No one was injured in the fire.

The garage was the storage space for fie plows and a new traffic control vehicle.

The state is already looking into ways to overcome problems that will be caused by the loss of the plow trucks.
