George H. W. Bush Golf Classic Raises Funds for Maine Nonprofit

The 15^th annual George H.W. Bush Golf Classic was held at the Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunkport and raised about $100,000.

The annual fund raiser benefits a Maine nonprofit that provides a place for families stay when loved ones are hospitalized. Other big names at the golf classic were former President and son George W. Bush and actor Patrick Dempsey.

George and Barbara Bush lost their first daughter to leukemia in 1953 and it’s that event that got them involved with fundraisers for Portland’s Grey House.

According usnews.com the golf fundraiser has raised more than $2 million to date.
