Gunfire Erupts During Altercation At Colby College in Maine
An altercation at Colby College's Alfond Apartments took a very scary turn when a gunshot rang out.
According to the KJ and WMTW, a 24 year old Waterville man has been detained after a firearm was discharged during some kind of altercation at the on-campus apartments early on Saturday morning. The police reportedly arrived on-scene at about 3 AM.
According to the KJ, the detained man's name is Andrew Gifford.
The administration at Colby College has reportedly released a statement explaining that the altercation was between a group of non-students. The statement also says that, as far as they know, no students were injured in the incident.
The statement from the iconic college goes on to say:
Staff have been on campus providing support for students, and counseling services will be available this morning for individual and group support
Police continue to investigate the incident and they are reportedly looking for a few other people involved.
