Here’s When Maine Can Expect Its Last Snowfall of the Winter

Even though it has not been like the winters that we used to experience in the 90s and early 00s, this winter has been a lot more normal than the ones that we have experienced over the last few yeas.

Even though we have not gotten massive storms, we have had a steady pattern of smaller snow events.  As a result, the snow totals across Maine are starting to add up.

Since it is only February, there is a good chance that we could end up seeing some massive storms before winter is over.  Speaking of which, when will Maine see its last significant snowfall?

Since it is only February, there is a good chance that we are going to have a few more snowstorms.  When are we going to get the last of the season?

Of course, no one knows, but we can make an educated guess based on previous winters.

According to How Much Will It Snow, we typically get our last snowfall of the season at the end of March or the beginning of April.  We got our list snowfall (over 6"!) of last winter on April 4th, 2024.  In 2023, we got our last snow on  March 31, and in 2022, it was on March 30.  In 2021, Central Maine saw its last snowfall on April 16.

The only real recent deviation was in 2020, when we got our last snowstorm on May 9.  But, then again, 2020 was messed up, so that late snowfall makes sense.

Even though I have no training as a meteorologist, I do watch a lot of TV and spend a lot of time on social media.  Sometimes, I watch videos and read articles about the weather.  So, my completely uneducated guess is that we will get our last snowfall of the winter on March 27.
