Thirty-nine years ago this month Reba McEntire made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry, fulfilling a dream that she’d had since her very first visit to the Opry, when she was just seven years old. McEntire’s family drove more than 700 miles from Oklahoma to see her perform. Reba was 22 years old at the time and sang a cover of Roger Miller’s ‘Invitation to the Blues,’ from her debut album.

Twenty-one years ago on Sept. 16, 1995, Tim McGraw shot straight to No. 1 with ‘I Like It, I Love it.’ The song was the debut single from his third studio album, All I Want, which was released three days after the song landed at the top of the charts.

Wayne Masciarella has pleaded guilty to the murder of Johnny Cash‘s great niece, Courtney Cash, as well as to the stabbing of her boyfriend, William Austin Johnson. The Cape May, N.J., resident was charged with first-degree murder in 2014 and entered his plea on Tuesday. Courtney Cash, the granddaughter of Johnny Cash’s brother Tommy Cash, was found dead at her home in Putnam County, Tenn., near Nashville, on March 19, 2014. The 23-year-old’s body was hidden inside a wooden box following her fatal stabbing.
