Little Big Town were full of surprises on Tuesday morning: In addition to announcing an upcoming residency at the Ryman Auditorium, the group also revealed that their newest single, Better Man,’ was written by country-turned-pop superstar Taylor Swift. She sent the song to the band saying it was really special to her. She thought of Little Big Town because of the harmonies. She’s never pitched a song to anyone before, and the moment that LBT heard it they knew they were going to record it.

Edna Perry, Faith Hill‘s mother, has died. She was 80 years old. Perry, a resident of Star, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday at St. Dominic Hospital in nearby Jackson. At the time of her death, she and her husband, Wesley L. ‘Ted’ Perry, had been married 59 years. Funeral details were not released in Perry’s obituary, as the service will be private.

Chris Stapleton and Ricky Skaggs were the big winners at the 54th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards, held Monday night at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Stapleton was the 2016 recipient of the Vanguard Award, given to those believed to be shaping the future of American music. Skaggs received the Founders Award, one of the highest honors bestowed on an ASCAP writer, in recognition of those who have made pioneering contributions in music.
