Most of us realize how important teachers are to our civilization.  Without the education they provide to our children, our nation would literally collapse within a generation.

Most of us also realize that, in some cases, our teachers are grossly underpaid.  In fact, a recent WalletHub study found that Maine was one of the worst states in the nation for teachers.

While that study as based on numerous factors (cost of living, room for advancement), one of the biggest factors in that study was the pay that teachers received.  While this is an issue in many Maine school districts, it is not an issue everywhere.

A recent study done by Niche sought to determine the best school districts in which to teach in Maine.  The study found that the average pay for many districts was above the Maine average of about $62,000.  For reference, the national average is about $72,000.

For those who are familiar with the lay of the land, it should not be a surprise that the higher paying school districts are in the southern part of the state.  Well, for the most part.  We were shocked by where a few of these districts were located.  There was even one way up in Aroostook County.
