Where Did This Fake Fingernail at Brittany's Apartment Come From?

I've been living in my apartment for over 5 years. I live in a duplex and we have a shared front door that leads to our two separate front doors and a back door near the garage. That's the one I typically use since it's easily accessible from the garage.

Here's the thing, I've been going in and out of this door for a very long time and it wasn't until this past weekend that I discovered something rather odd. I had been gone all weekend and as I'm making my way to the door something catches my eye in between the boards to the small steps. It's white and clear.

I look closer and what do I see? A FINGERNAIL. No, not a real human fingernail. One of those fake press-on ones that I wore once, maybe twice, back in high school. There's no way this is my fingernail. I'm 99% sure it's not my neighbor's fingernail as she works in the medical field and is likely not allowed to wear them to work in the first place. I never invite people over and FedEx or UPS wouldn't have any reason to go to the back door.

So HOW did this fingernail come to be? Some have suggested maybe it was stuck to a shoe and conveniently fell off in that spot. I suppose the wind could have caught it or maybe a squirrel or bird dropped it there. Or I have a well-manicured stalker on my hands, no pun intended.
