You read that correctly. The Humane Society of Waterville Area will let you bring a pup home for a freakin' slumber party. Where do I sign up?!

The program is part of a national effort to study animal foster care. According to WMTW the idea is to help save pups and homeless dogs around the country and to learn how this type of program affects the dogs, the volunteers and the staff at the shelters.

More than 100 shelters nationwide are taking part and the study is being run by Arizona State University.

According to the Humane Society, foster programs of any length can help to reduce the stress for dogs that are living in kennels and help increase their visibility in the community to people who are likely to adopt them.

If you're interested in taking part in this program, no previous experience is required. However, the shelter urges you to attend the launch orientation which will take place on the 22nd of February (Saturday).
