According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, the Maine State Police are investigating human remains that were found in Clinton on Tuesday morning.

The press release explains that late Tuesday morning, around 11:30, members of the Maine State Police were helping a team from the Clinton Police Department with a missing person case when they made a tragic discovery.  Human remains were found in a field off Route 100 in Clinton.

The remains have been taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta to confirm the identity and find out what happened.

The investigation is still active, and police haven’t shared any more details just yet.
