Hurricane Lee Makes Dramatic Shift, Sets Sights Directly on Maine

If you're anywhere in Maine, or on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States for that matter, then it's likely you've been following along with all the dramatic updates of the powerful Hurricane Lee.

For the better part of a week, meteorologists haven't been able to precisely determine the level of impact that the storm will have on the Pine Tree State, but as the weekend quickly approaches, that picture is becoming clearer by the minute.

According to WGME 13, the track of the hurricane has shifted westward, lining itself up for a strong potential of landfall in Maine. Obviously the colder waters of the north Atlantic Ocean will help to weaken the storm, but it will still back a powerful, and potentially devastating, punch.

WGME is reporting that the most significant impacts of Hurricane Lee will be felt along the immediate coastline and into downeast Maine. Central Maine Power reports that it is already putting line crews on standby so that they can deploy trucks as needed if and when power goes down.

CMP also went on to talk about how the 'exceptionally wet' spring and summer has added an extra level of stress to the trees. Much of Maine's soil is wet and saturated making it more difficult for large trees to withstand the impending winds of the approaching storm.
