All lanes of the northbound side of the Maine turnpike are closed as of 10:30 am on Monday, April 14th, 2025.

According to an article published by WGME 13, police are saying that a 'serious accident' has caused the lane closures. WGME explains that the crash happened at mile marker 23 in the town of Kennebunk, Maine.

The news station says that as of right now all of the northbound traffic on the turnpike is being diverted from the interstate and is being re-routed via exit 19 (northbound). First responders indicated there would be major delays in the area.

At this time, there is no official word on how many vehicles were involved in the apparent crash or what may have led to it this morning. Additionally, we don't yet know if anyone was injured, how many may be injured, or the extent of possible injuries.

This is a developing story that we will continue to follow as more information comes to us from our media partners and/or the Maine State Police press office.
