Snowfall Total Predictions Are in For Maine, New Hampshire Sunday Storm

Here in Mass, we're no strangers to wild winter weather, though this year seems a little different doesn't it? By now, we're typically trudging through several inches of snow to get to the snow blower or the local suds spot. Not this year though.

As a matter of fact, for this late into winter, this is one of the least snowiest (starts) to the season that the Pine Tree State has ever seen, but that could soon be changing in a big way.
According to WGME 13, a large storm is likely to bring travel delays, accumulating snow and blustery conditions to the state later this weekend. The news station is reporting that the storm is likely to impact most of the state through Sunday.

First though, we'll need to deal with a few passing flurries for our Thursday afternoon.

As we head into the weekend, a bit of a cool down is expected. According to WGME, temperatures this weekend will range from the upper 20s on the coast, to the low 30s the further inland you go. However, even though they're relatively mild for early January, it will be the prefect temperature to produce the white stuff.

As Sunday's storm moves into the region, most everyone in Maine can expect to see some snow. But, just how much are we talking here? Well, if you hate snow and were hoping that this storm was being over-predicted early on, you'll be happy.

WGME is reporting that much of Maine, from the coast to the mountains will likely receive LESS than 6 inches of snow. The exception to that rule is Portland south and east where communities may see slightly more than 6 inches of snow.

Either way, be careful out there as it seems that most people forget how to drive in this crap between the months of May and December. Stay safe, have fun and don't worry... summer is only a few short months away.
