It was a tragic ending to an incident that occurred late on Tuesday in the town of Standish, Maine.

According to reports from WGME 13, a man from the town of Baldwin, Maine was killed on Tuesday evening after walking on a section of Manchester Road in Standish. While the man was walking, he was hit by a passing car.

The man, 54-year-old William Hood, was declared dead at the scene by first responders. Officials also say they believe that alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash, however, it's not yet clear if it was the pedestrian or the driver that authorities believe was intoxicated.

Currently there is no word on the make and model of the vehicle that was involved in the crash, or who the driver of the car that hit the pedestrian was. The crash happened at about 5:35 Tuesday evening in the vicinity of 515 Manchester Road in Standish.

This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information becomes available to us. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Mr. Hood.
