Maine is a place that is often credited with being full of bountiful natural beauty. From our diverse mountain ranges to our rocky and rugged coastline, Maine is home to some of the best landscapes and terrain this side of the Mississippi River. But, don't just look to the ground to capture the beauty of Maine, rather look to the skies- at least for tonight!

It seems like every time we talk about a meteor shower that will be passing over the Pine Tree State, the weather takes our chances of viewing it away with a forecast of cloudy or partly cloudy skies. Tonight's show, however, should be easily viewed for most in Vacationland.

According to an article published by WGME 13, Mainers will be in for a real treat as one of the largest and brightest meteor showers of the entire year will pass over the state. The news station is reporting that the large 'Geminids Meteor Shower' will happen over clear Maine skies on Wednesday night.

Though part of the state runs the risk of small snow showers during the afternoon, most of those clouds will clear out by sunset and we will be left with clear, albeit cold, skies. Travel + Leisure reports that the meteor event will produce as many as 120 meteors per hour during its peak.

NASA reports that most meteors appear to be white, however 'shooting stars' from Geminids will likely have a 'greenish hue' to them. How cool is that?! For the best view, try to get out between 10p-1a tonight.
